Miley Cyrus has always been committed to gay rights -- and now, she's put it in ink. On Friday night, the 18-year-old star unveiled her newest tattoo: an equal sign on her right ring finger, in honor of marriage equality.
Cyrus announced her surprising new tattoo with a Twitpic, which shows two subtle lines inked on the side of her knuckle. To caption the photo, Cyrus wrote, "All LOVE is equal."
And she's not afraid to stand up for that message! Shortly after posting the picture, the former Hannah Montana star responded to a tweet from a fan -- with the handle "MileyCyrusLuver," no less -- asking her where in the Bible it says homosexuality is okay.
"Where does it say in the bible to judge others?" Cyrus shot back. "Oh right. It doesn't. GOD is the only judge honey. 'GOD is love.'"
Miley has used Twitter in defense of gay rights before, once tweeting this message to Perez Hilton: "I am a Christian and I love you -- gay or not. Because you are no different that anyone else! We are all God's children!"
In an interview last January, Cyrus -- who also has a tattoo reading "Just Breathe," in honor of a friend who died of cystic fibrosis -- has said that she "could never get a meaningless tattoo." The equality tattoo is right near a heart on Cyrus's pinky finger, which she had done last fall. While she hasn't revealed the personal meaning of that ink, it is similar to a tattoo that her father, Billy Ray Cyrus, had inked on his own hand in Miley's honor.
